Our Story
From a very early age I have been interested and fascinated with Asian culture and religion. My Mum and Dad are both Anthropologists, most of their work and interest was focused on New Guinea. I was born in Telefomin, a remote village of the Star Mountains in the high lands of Central New Guinea and so was exposed to a unique religious culture from a very early age. This ingrained in me a fascination and keen interest and desire to know more about unique cultural art and religion. I was first attracted specifically to Stone Statue Artifacts about 10 years ago, I loved the quality of the hand carved stone statues, it amazed me that such beautiful intricate works of art could be hand carved from solid stone. I also liked the fact, that these beautiful stone statues would last lifetimes and would only look better with age even when exposed to the elements outside in the garden.
I have travelled extensively through Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and Japan, it was the stone temples of Cambodia which really awed me and ignited my passion for Stone carved art and architecture.

I also have a passion for beautiful architecture, creating liveable spaces that are connected to nature and provide a sense of serenity and peace. I believe all good Art-chitecture should be filled with beauty and meaning, helping to expand one’s sense of space and uplift one’s spirits. The hand carved stone statues exuded these qualities and as my passion grew for these beautiful artifacts, I knew I wanted to share them with likeminded folk. I decided it was time to order my first container shipment from central Java some of these beautiful hand carved Lava stone statues, thus I have pleasure in creating JAVA LAVA Stone Statues as an introduction for you to these beautiful works of art.
The statues featured here on Java Lava thus far is just the beginning, we will be adding exciting new items and of course, we can take custom orders to meet your requirements. We look forward to expanding our bespoke selection of these and other wonderful handmade works of art from select artisans and suppliers throughout Asia. We will be introducing other types of materials such as Riverstone, (a much denser heavier stone than Lava Stone), brass, bronze and copper which form a beautiful patina finish and solid wood renowned for its warmth and texture.
