Om is a sacred sound and spiritual symbol originating from Hinduism and is also used in Buddhism. It is considered the greatest of all mantras, representing the essence of the universe.
In Hinduism it’s believed to be the primordial sound from which the universe was created and the vibration that ensures its existence. Om signifies the first breath of creation and symbolises God or the One-ness of all creation.
Shiva represents the force of destruction, necessary for renewal and regeneration, often depicted as a powerful dancer.
And so it is that in Hindu religion both creation and destruction are honoured and acknowledged as equal and necessary forces which make up the whole universe.
